frequently asked questions
- What kind of photography do you do?
-
I don't have a very narrow niche, because I enjoy working on anything as long as it includes some sparks of creativity.
Though, I don't document any events. Thus, I don't book weddings or birthdays parties, because I think the event photography is a completely different kind of photography, required a different set of skills and different photography gear.
I work in the style of the Fine Art Photography. It means that it requires meticulous preparation and coordination of all the details for the perfect image. It's more staged than an event photography, though it doesn't mean there's no space for candid scenes, reactions and real emotions. It is aimed at depict the real personality of a subject by the means of photography through setting together mood, location, wardrobe, props, composition, colors, and posing.
Most of my finished photographs have some "painterly" look, conveying the feel of paintings. I want people to feel special about themselves on the photographs they receive from me, like they deserve to be presented if not in the art galleries but at least on the walls of their houses.
To list some of the genres I work in - Portraits, Children, Family, Couples, Dance, Yoga, Family, Maternity and Newborn, Teens and Seniors Photography.
I also do Corporate Headshots, Personal Branding Campaigns, Fashion Photography.
- I like what I see. I want a photo session. Now what?
-
Ready to go ahead with booking a session? Great, you won't be disappointed.
Please contact me about your decision to book a photo shoot. You can email, text, phone me, or fill up the form on this site so I could contact you myself. During an initial conversation, we talk over what kind of photo session you're looking for and set the date. After you paid a deposit, your booking is finalized and I won't advertise this day and time to anyone else.
Then we will have a consultation. Our meeting can be over the phone, zoom, or in person. At this time I learn more about you or the person I'm going to photograph. I'd like to find out about the goals and expectations from the photo session. I will ask you if you have a desired location, style, outfit, any other "musts". Depending on how I understood your objectives I will make some suggestions. It's the time for you to ask me any questions you can possibly have. The initial meeting is about learning about each other and starting a creative process of setting up a future photo shoot. It's also a good moment to decide on how you'd like to use your photographs afterwards and what package you're choosing.
From that time on, I start thinking about the ways of bringing your stories to life. I will be making mood boards, collect references, think of the complete look and style, outfits, props, colors, poses, and other things. I can contact you to share my ideas and/or ask you if you have some of the needed resources. You can do the same - you can contact me any time before your session with questions, new ideas, a request for assistance.
- How long will it take to get finished fully edited photographs?
-
The timeframe for getting edited complete images will depend on a package you've selected. The approximate wait time looks like that: after the session, please give me at least 1 week to complete your client gallery, where you can see half edited images and select the number of images for me to fully artistically edit. After your selection is finalize, it will take other 2 weeks for me to send you the ready digital files. Again, the time is approximate and depends on the number of images for me to edit, as I work on each image individually, doing hand painterly edits.
For the packages, which include printed products, it takes approximately a month to get your Wall Art delivered after our ordering session. You can enjoy the corresponding digital images in about a week after that meeting. The printed products cannot be returned or refunded after you accepted proofs. If there's an obvious damage from shipping, the wall art pieces can be reordered.
- Do you have a wardrobe to use for the sessions?
-
I do have quite a bit of clothing items you can borrow for the photo shoot. I have a lot of children, styled, and maternity pieces. If nothing suits you, I will gladly assist you with renting or buying the clothes. I have relationship with a local vendor, who has many exquisite dresses for rent perfect for boudoir, maternity, or fine art portrait sessions. I also work with a seamstress who makes special stylized wardrobe pieces for my photo projects. They are absolutely beautiful. Finally, we can just shop locally or online. I studied fashion styling and color science and always happy to assist my clients with creating a perfect look and pick the good color and style combinations between family members or a couple. For the maternity sessions I have a client closet consisting of body suits, variety of gowns, different fabrics, and casual pieces. Everything is taken a good care of, washed and cleaned properly before each use. I also have many accessories and props to use along.
- What if I have never had a professional photo session before?
-
Not to worry. First, we discuss every bit of details before the photo shoot day, so you can rest assured your custom session is well prepared. You can reach out to me as often as you want if you need any guidelines or have any questions. I will make sure we have everything ready for the shoot in the studio or on location.
Then, I suggest treating the session as a special pleasant occasion, setting a good chunk of time in your schedule for it, and no rushing. The last but not least, during the session I will guide you every step of the way so you feel safe and comfortable. I describe the idea and poses, show them myself, or help you to pose; I also like using visual references, if that's what helps. Many of my clients told me later that they felt at ease with me at the shoot pretty fast so that they started improvise and strike the poses.
Mainly - relax, there's a judge free zone all around me!
- Can we print our own photographs?
-
If you select any digital packages I offer, you will get the files in the digital format. They will be a high quality digital files formatted to be best viewed on the monitors of any devices. Those packages are perfect for people who want to display their images online, share on social media, send electronically to others. You can print those files out but I cannot quarantee a quality of any prints purchased outside of my company's professional labs, just because any printing resources available to consumer market cannot be of a professional quality.
On the other hand, if you plan on printing any of the images, I suggest to pick a different package - "Custom Heirloom Collection" or add any additional printed products to your digital package. Thus I definitely guarantee the quality of all printed products I offer, because the printed houses I hand picked are professional only services labs that use only the best products, properly preserving the exposure and colors of my images.
- Where will my photo session take place?
-
As I have my own photo studio, we are not limited by the need to choose the "right" weather or available venue. The location of the photo session depends solemnly on the idea or concept of the shoot and your preferences. We decide where it's better to get a session done. We can even do both - outside and in the studio.
Taken the theme of the shoot, you can be photographed in the park, in the woods, at the beach, in the flower fields, etc. I know a lot of special locations around the Fairfield and Westchester counties and beyond and can recommend one or more that fit your requirements and the style of the session. I will advice on the best time of the day to schedule the session depending on the lighting, time of the year and the desired mood.
Besides my studio - where we can create so many incredible projects (not only portraits, but maternity, senior, children, family, boudoir, dance, and more) - I can arrange to photograph you inside places like at the cafe, at the galleries, libraries, old estates, etc.
- Do we receive RAW unedited files from the session?
-
In Fine Art Photography, the style I work in, the finished product differs from the RAW straight out of the camera images quite a bit, one time substantially, the other time not so much, but almost all of them need to be brought to perfection in post production.
So no RAW files are available for viewing or purchasing.
To ask me to give you any RAW unedited files or all files straight from the camera is like asking a baker to give you flour, eggs, sugar, and butter separately instead of a beautiful cake.
Besides, during the sessions not all files are intended for the client. A photographer tries out the lighting, best positions and frames, making multiple shots. The files proposed for editing and the final delivery reflect my very high standards and scrupulously selected by me, omitting any obvious duplicates or flaws.
Another reason might be that I use "tricks of editing" to create a finished image the way it's supposed to be by composing or combining several images into one, or using some other advanced techniques, so you would never visualize the final results by just looking at a bunch of separate images.
If you come to me for my style, trust me, any images that don't pass my quality control don't worth your attention.
